Mahj 101

Mahj 101 lessons are conducted in the clients home or a location of your choosing with a minimum of four players. After our Mahj 101 lesson, you will have a basic understanding of how to play American Mahjong and the ability to practice online. Specifically, we will walk you through tile identification, game set up, game play, and introductory Mahj strategy.

While some clients are set after a single lesson, others prefer a second introductory lesson or a follow up session of guided play. We are happy to work with you to determine the appropriate number of lessons to ensure you and your friends are ready for independent play!

Don’t have a group of four? No problem! Our pop up events will include Mahj 101 lessons where you can join others in learning the game! Email us at mixminglemahj@gmail.com to get on the list for our next pop-up lesson.

guided play

Go beyond Mahj 101 with a rules and strategy brush up through guided play for a minimum of four players. Similar to Mahj 101 lessons, we come to your home or designated location but build on the basic understanding and assist with card strategy and line picking. Perfect for players who haven’t played in a while or those looking to up their game! All add ons from the Mahj 101 offering are available for guided play.

Welcome!

Our obsession with Mahjong originally began with a desire to socialize more often with friends (i.e. an excuse to get out of the house on a week night for girl talk over margaritas). However, we quickly fell in love with the game, the traditions, and, let’s be honest, all the pretty tiles and accessories! After starting a robust biweekly game with our friends, old and new, we began exploring how to build upon our community and further spread our passion for everything Mahjong.

Enter Mix Mingle Mahj.

Our goal is to share our love of Mahjong, as well as our common reverence of entertaining with colorful details and personalized touches with everyone. We hope after a lesson or event with us, you will love the game and experience too!

We encourage you to follow along on this adventure of ours, which now includes our family and friends, multiple children, other hobbies, general chaotic lives (did we mention full time jobs?) and we look forward to working with you!
